Asset Counts
A key function with AssetManager Pro is the ability to conduct an Asset Count which provides a way of:
- Confirm the existence (or non-existence of assets)
- Record the Asset Location
- If the Asset Location has changed - update the Location.
This can be done manually or can be automated by uploading data into AssetManager Pro from a Mobile Computer (inc a Scanner)
Refer to page 103 (Reconciling Assets) for more information.
Mobile Scanners and Software
GRAGA Software Solutions recommends using hardware and software provided by TIG as part of their Asset Tracking Tool (ATT) - http://www.tigint.com/t3/att/index/myobamp
Their solution comprises two main parts:
- Software that runs on a windows mobile 5 or later mobile computer with integrated bar code reader (or RFID reader, or both).
- Software that runs on a windows PC to control the scanners.
Asset Count Process using ATT
- Export the location file from AssetManager Pro
- Export the asset data from AssetManager Pro
- Load this information into the scanner.
- Conducting scanning of assets:
- Enter or scan the location name (or internal code).
- Enter or scan asset bar code(s) in this location. Upon each scan, the screen display information about the asset (so you can verify the correct label on the correct asset). Repeat this step until you move to the next location.
- Synchronise the scanner with the PC.
- Produce a scan report on the PC.
- Import the scanned data into the Asset Count function of AssetManager Pro.
